My client Med asked me for a concept design for a Chinese Malaysian restaurant in Earls Court, London. The design takes inspiration from traditional Cantonese tea houses, with dark timber panelling, suspended lanterns, complemented by patinated brass finishes and soft upholstered seating. A dramatic installation of red lanterns, arranged in a sweeping "dragon" form across the ceiling, connects the length of the space, while batik motifs and neon signage add cultural resonance. The result is a warm, intimate and theatrical atmosphere that balances contemporary dining comfort with heritage inspiration.
