Su Koh started her career in Architecture, studying in the US (Bachelors in Architecture) and at the prestigious Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London (Masters in Architecture). Upon graduating, she worked on residential and commercial projects at a number of Architectural practices.
Since 2008 Su has specialised in Museum and Exhibition Design, working for various exhibition design agencies. Clients include the National Museum of Scotland, the Olympic Museum Switzerland, the Hong Kong Museum of History and the National Museum of Ireland. Su has over 16 years of experience in the cultural and heritage sector during which she has developed a broad range of skills from masterplanning, permanent gallery spaces and temporary exhibitions, to historic homes and landscape installations.
In 2023 Su founded Su Koh Design, a creative studio with a focus on Museum, Exhibition and Interior Design. Recent commissions include The British Library’s current blockbuster exhibition ‘Medieval Women: In Their Own Words’; Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum’s recent exhibition ‘Grassroots to Global Game’; An ‘Object in Focus’ display at the National Maritime Museum; A Malaysian restaurant in the Battersea Power Station Development; Contemporary Vietnamese and Cantonese restaurants in West London. Some of the projects Su Koh Design is currently working on include a centenary exhibition for Canada House in Trafalgar Square and exhibition displays at The Science Museum and the Royal Museums Greenwich.
Su’s strength lies in the combination of strong conceptual design- translating the client’s brief into a compelling and memorable experience- with an exacting eye for technical detail, materiality and colour. Her designs have received awards for projects including the Museums and Heritage 2017 Award for Best Permanent Gallery (10 galleries at the National Museum of Scotland). The design for the British Library’s exhibition ‘Medieval Women: In Their Own Words’ received 5 star reviews from The Guardian and the Telegraph.
