“Setting the Stage beautifully captures not only the music and magic audiences see on screen, but also the extraordinary innovation, creativity and collaboration behind the scenes.”
- Martin Green, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, European Broadcasting Union
Setting the Stage: 70 Years of the Eurovision Song Contest
Launched to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest, Setting the Stage explores the science, technology and creativity behind one of the world's most ambitious live television productions.
The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through seven decades of broadcast innovation, revealing how advances in lighting, stage design, screens, cameras and live production have transformed Eurovision from a pioneering television experiment into a global cultural phenomenon. Costumes, memorabilia, archive material, audiovisual content and interactive experiences combine to tell the story of the Contest both on stage and behind the scenes.
The exhibition design draws inspiration from the visual language of Eurovision itself, using theatrical scenography, dynamic lighting, reflective materials and large-scale graphic interventions to create a series of immersive gallery environments. A continuous graphic motif, inspired by sound waves and broadcast signals, threads through the exhibition, connecting themes of music, communication and technology.
At the conclusion of the exhibition, visitors are invited to step onto a Eurovision-inspired stage and become part of the spectacle themselves, celebrating the enduring power of live performance and shared cultural experience.Exhibition Design: Su Koh Design
