Working with the Royal Museums Greenwich, we designed a new display at the National Maritime Museum, showcasing their new acquisition of Charles Hare's uniform.
Charles Hare, a 19-year-old British Royal Navy midshipman escaped a prisoner-of-war camp dressed in a Napoleonic customs officer's uniform coat and hat. With his pet dog, they travelled through Europe through trains, a series of boats and made it all the way back to Lincolnshire.
Follow his personal and moving accounts of fearing being discovered, if caught would be executed for espionage.
